Careful blending from these three Marlborough sub regions gives our Sauvignon Blanc perfect balance. It mixes the contrasts of the cooler/drier sea air influenced Awatere Valley, famous for its crisper style and herbaceous minerality, with the two Wairau sub regions mentioned above. The result is a quintessential Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc that displays fragrant citrus aromatics of Meyer lemon, white peach, green mango and fresh herbs, with lingering fresh acidity and mineral detail on the finish.
The early characteristics, according to our winemaker Jed Penkman, were described as:
"ripe gooseberry, hints of lemon and lime and tropical passionfruit. Crisp refreshing acidity with a balanced fruit driven palate." This vintage was certainly a challenging year for our growers and our winemaker, we think the end product is outstanding.
